Lacey’s breathing sounded like thunderclaps in her ears. The bat was clutched to her chest as she hid. Leaves crunched under foot, close by. She tensed and reached into her pocket to grasp the small metal lighter. Lacey surveyed the dry brush and grass around her. She glanced out, god there were so many zombies milling around. She sucked in a deep breath and flicked the lighter.
The fire caught easily, and she pounded away as the zombies stared in surprise at the glow, too stupid to move out of its path. Now she only had to outrun the flames.
